ABOUT

What is KHYAL?

KHYAL means imagination. It comes from khayāl (خیال), a word of Arabic origin that has been absorbed over time into both Persian and Urdu through Islamic literature and poetry.

We create Eastern-inspired menswear with a contemporary touch. Our pieces are designed to be comfortable, modest, and versatile. With long-lasting, pre-shrunk, easy-iron materials, and the right stylistic choices, you can wear KHYAL to any setting or occasion. Express yourself with pieces as timeless as your values and limitless as your imagination.

KHYAL. Man re-imagined.

Our Values

We are proud to be a Muslim-owned brand that aspires toward the values of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Our pieces are tailored to maintain physical modesty in their looseness and length, particularly as we go through the motions of prayer, but that's not where it ends.

We view every person who is part of our journey, from manufacturers to consumers, as members of our community and spiritual family. We work directly with experienced professionals in Pakistan who prioritize workers' rights, and we visit them in person to ensure our standards are maintained.

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, "Allah is Beautiful and He loves beauty." We strive to embody and experience that sentiment in every garment we make.

Who We Are

KHYAL is a passion project by Abdullah Al-Mahmudi, Tareq Tamr, and Nauman Khan to create the kind of clothing they would love to wear.

Abdullah comes from a family of garment designers who go back over three generations. He started tailoring clothes in his youth, developing a deep appreciation for the power of intentional design.

Tareq, like many, comes from a family of garment-wearers who go back to the dawn of civilization. He was always fond of Eastern clothing, but he struggled to find pieces he could wear comfortably in any setting.

Nauman is a lifelong community servant who believes in the power of simple messages. He views clothing as one of the most transformation tools to express and convey his values.

When their paths crossed, they were determined to create a line of clothing that would allow men to connect with traditional values while being fashion-forward.
